We would like to share with you very important information. On November 3rd the court registered our activity and from this moment we can officially call ourselves a Foundation. This is a very important moment for us – it means that we exist on paper, we start to act officially and e.g. when we are contacting organizations similar to us, we have much more credibility. We are extremely happy, filled with a huge portion of energy and, what can we say, pride, we continue our hard work on.
And there is a lot of work ahead of us. Of course, at this point our main and most specific goal is to build from the scratch an Internet portal that would serve as a platform for an interactive exchange of opinion on changes of the law. First and foremost, those proposed by the portal users themselves, but also those proposed by the legislature. It is extremely important for us to gather around a portal a community of people who are interested in what is happening around them, have ideas and are ready to talk about them – even if it sometimes leads to a cultural clash using arguments. In short, we would like to build a portal for public consultations, where representatives of different world views, without labels of right or left, worse or better, as long as they talk about facts, are able to talk about an idea that someone proposed. In case of problems with reaching a conclusion of the conversation – experts relevant to the field and, if necessary, ethicists will help.
The road to creating such a portal is not short and simple. First of all, we would like it to be usable for people. We suspect that in our country (sometimes even if it does not seem so) in almost every social group there are a lot of people who have something wise to say – but to propose a functional software that will meet the expectations and offer previously unavailable solutions to various problems, we need to find out what people need. For this purpose we will use so-called UX Research, that is, examining by means of e.g. in-depth interviews or observation what people, in a broad sense connected with civic activity, need and how we can help them. Later on, we will face consecutive, alternating stages of inventing specific functionalities and modeling their operation in details, to finally construct a prototype, test it and…. if everything goes well – start programming. However, we will surely write more about all this in the future, as the activities are both important and interesting.
However, those who have read our statute know that the portal is not the only goal of our activity. Important positions in the ranking of our goals are occupied by education and activities for civil society and social participation. Here, many elements we still want to plan, but our imagination is already galloping ahead, and shows us pictures of e.g. workshops, meetings with social activists, podcasts, interviews with specialists in the field of modern education etc. For the time being, of course, these are only ideas, whose realization is delayed by things as trivial as putting the final touches to the details of the Foundation’s operational frames. You will be able to read about how we understand e.g modern education or civic education, and why we consider these issues important, in the texts that we try to publish here regularly.
For now – as it was said at the beginning – we hold back our imagination, and get to work.
