The Future Democracy Foundation (Fundacja Demokracja Przyszłości) is taking another step towards modern, digital democracy. With a view to amplifying the voices of young citizens, we have launched a dedicated instance of the Decidim platform – called Decydujemy (We Decide). This innovative tool has been created specifically for youth councils and youth organisations that want to have a real impact on their local communities.
Why Decidim?
Decidim is the global standard in the field of civic participation. Thanks to our instance, young leaders are provided with a secure and transparent space to:
- Co-create local projects and initiatives.
- Conduct public consultations in a way that is accessible to their peers.
- Vote online on important resolutions and ideas.
- Build dialogue between young people and local government.
Technology in the service of engagement
The project implemented by our Foundation aims to break down communication barriers between local authorities and young citizens. We believe that providing youth councillors with a professional e-democracy tool will help foster civic attitudes based on agency and modern technologies.
Our aim is to show that young people’s voices matter, and that technology can make them heard louder and clearer than ever before.
Here is what Mr Piotr Jaros, Chairman of the Foundation for European Initiatives in Silesia (Fundacja Europejskich Inicjatyw na Śląsku) – an organisation collaborating with the Democracy of the Future Foundation – has to say about the use of Decidim in Youth Councils:
