Welcome to the Future Democracy website!
We are an informal group of people interested in topics such as direct democracy, technocracy and e-democracy; we are currently working on establishing a foundation to promote these issues. Our main goals are to create new opportunities for participation in democracy and to activate society for democratic action.
In order to achieve these goals, we have decided to set up a website where we will publish articles on interesting and important democracy-related matters from our point of view. You can also expect topics on philosophy, technology or user experience design.
Ultimately, however, we would like to develop and implement a web portal to improve public consultations and citizen’s legislative initiatives, and later also other forms of direct democracy, with elements of technocracy, i.e. expert support in law making.
The subject is incredibly interesting because the Internet has great potential to transform civil society in new and as yet unknown ways. Websites of political parties, news or analysis, and grassroots initiatives on well-known social media are not enough. We see an opportunity to create a new way for citizens, all of you, to participate in a democratic system, regardless of political option or worldview.
All we ask for is the will to take the future of our country into your own hands, not forgetting about the rules of social coexistence, such as cultural language and substantive discussions instead of attacking other participants. Feel free to comment under any of the articles, we will be happy to start a discussion with you.
And how are we going to create a target web portal? We’ve come together to study User Experience Design (Product Design) and I’m a C# .NET developer, so we have the necessary knowledge and skills to start such an ambitious project. It will certainly require the work of many volunteers, but we believe that there will be people willing to support our project with their experience and enthusiasm.
This is only the beginning of a long road, but together we will succeed. And it is definitely worth it, because a just and reasonable law will give us all a chance to live in the country that we can create together.
